چکیده

Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in men and is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in developed countries. Recent work has revealed the significance of CIPinteracting zinc finger protein 1 (CIZ1) in cancer cell biology, but its roles in prostatic carcinoma are unknown. Our study compared CIZ1 gene expression in banked prostatic carcinomas versus matched paraneoplastic tissues and in tumor cell lines of varying origin. This study revealed that the expression of CIZ1 was higher in high-grade Ciz1 promotes tumorigenicity of prostate carcinoma cell

Loss of endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 promotes the tumorigenicity and metastasis of prostate cancer cells through regulation of the TIMP-1/MMP-9 expression

The Endothelial cell specific molecule-1 (ESM1) protein has been involved in proliferation and metastatic progression in multiple tumors. However, there are no studies regarding the mechanism of ESM1 in prostate cancer. We found that ESM1 knockdown in prostate cancer cells resulted in increased cell proliferation and colony formation ability response evidenced by decreased expression of p21 and...

Cell membrane-anchored MUC4 promotes tumorigenicity in epithelial carcinomas

The cell surface membrane-bound mucin protein MUC4 promotes tumorigenicity, aggressive behavior, and poor outcomes in various types of epithelial carcinomas, including pancreatic, breast, colon, ovarian, and prostate cancer. This review summarizes the theories and findings regarding MUC4 function, and its role in epithelial carcinogenesis. Based on these insights, we developed an outline of the...

Tissue-specific consequences of cyclin D1 overexpression in prostate cancer progression.

The cyclin D1 oncogene encodes the regulatory subunit of a holoenzyme that phosphorylates and inactivates the Rb protein and promotes progression through G(1) to S phase of the cell cycle. Several prostate cancer cell lines and a subset of primary prostate cancer samples have increased cyclin D1 protein expression. However, the relationship between cyclin D1 expression and prostate tumor progre...

Alterations in gene expression profiles during prostate cancer progression: functional correlations to tumorigenicity and down-regulation of selenoprotein-P in mouse and human tumors.

To identify molecular changes that occur during prostate tumor progression, we have characterized a series of prostate cancer cell lines isolated at different stages of tumorigenesis from C3(1)/Tag transgenic mice. Cell lines derived from low- and high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, invasive carcinoma, and a lung metastasis exhibited significant differences in cell growth, tumorigen...
